Rumour has it that the inspiration for the Bomber fly was seeing fish rise to a discarded cigar butt.

It was originally designed for Canadian and North American salmon to create a disturbance on the surface and this pattern is an exceptionally exciting skating dry-fly.

It is worth using for summer salmon as a dropper fly to stir up fish that are reluctant to take.
