Solar Super Snaelda

The Solar Super Snaelda is a globally successful fly already. The tentacles give them even greater appeal to salmon, and they certainly work well on our salmon rivers. Tied on copper tubes to get right down in front of the fish, I would use a half inch or one inch on a falling river when there is still a fair bit of colour visible in the water. Trying new patterns on familiar beats can yield surprising results.
