When it comes to cigars the name Gurkha is iconic. On a recent trip to the Highlands and paired with a bottle of Aberlour A’bunadh I smoked grouse shooting, I did find myself shooting over some very young stubble turnips last week, almost in true leaf. The sheep farmer had decided to plant an acreage of crop as he was concerned about the winter food and hay supply. Due to the heat and lack of water, it was difficult to know if the pigeon were still feeding on any remaining grain or had switched on the green leaf. Fortunately, my results were good, but attention now turns to the farming season ahead.
