Pointer finds cocker missing for a week

-

An HPR has been hailed as a hero after finding a springer spaniel trapped in a peat bog. Meg, who belongs to a local farming and gamekeeping family, went missing on Saddleworth Moor on 28 August. Teams of volunteers and even a mountain rescue team failed to find any trace of her. That changed three days later when wire-haired vizsla, Dash, was brought out. Dash marked a deep hole in the peat and began to bark. An answering bark confirmed that Meg had fallen into the hole. She was pulled out to safety and reunited with her family. The Peak District Moorland Group called it “an amazingly happy result”.
