A right way to fit bipods?

- ACCESSORIES

After an episode of The Shooting Show where you were using the new Beretta BRX1 rifle, someone said that the bipod was fitted the wrong way round. I did not realise there was a right or wrong way. I have mine the same way and it works fine.

You are correct. I generally fit a bipod the other way so the legs point forward towards the end of the barrel or moderator, and to deploy them you pull backwards towards yourself. However, in the case you mention, the rifle was supplied to me with the bipod fitted the other way.

In reality, it does not matter and whatever works for you is fine. Occasionally, though, with the bipod fitted forwards, it comes close to touching the moderator, which can alter the harmonics of the barrel and affect accuracy and zero.

I also know guys who fit bipods with the legs backwards as they find it easier to use when shooting from quad sticks. But it really is what you prefer. You can follow my next outing with the BRX1 on the 26 September episode of TSS. CD
