TO CATCH A FISH
Yellow Humpy
September and October are great months for reservoir trout fishing — the rainbows are fit and hard fighting and it’s a favourite time for me. The Yellow Humpy fly pattern is a great attractor with good floatability and visibility. It sits high in the water and floats well enough to support a dropper fly. I take advantage of that whenever possible. I find hanging a small Pheasant
Tail several inches behind the Yellow Humpy leads to a lot of additional action. Often a fish will come up to look at the Humpy or take a swipe at it and miss. Then it will see the other fly and grab it instead. It definitely boosts my success.
