IN MEMORY OF JIMMY LEAN

-

I would like to submit a short poem in memory of my late grandfather, Jimmy Lean, who passed away in August last year.

He featured in Shooting Times on many occasions over the years, due in part to his long career as a gamekeeper and his time spent working on Fealar Estate. The poem features a line at the end that was a popular saying of his and what he always said he would name his book, if ever he wrote one. I was made in the mountains, And it’s to there that I’ll return. To take my place with nature, Among the heather and the burn. The wind as my music, I’ll sing the days away. With the wild hill game for company, I’ll never have another b ***** d of a day!
