140 years and counting
As Shooting Times marks its 140th anniversary, here’s what it means to some famous names
Although I was only briefly editor of Shooting Times, almost 25 years ago, I remember that time with special affection for the wonderful friends and characters in the shooting world. The magazine was the golden thread that brought them all together. It was a complete joy to be part of.
There’s folderol shooting — all sloegasm elevenses, twiddly canapés and garish stockings. There’s instant expert shooting — facial fungus, head-to-toe camo, constant Facebooking.
And then there’s Shooting Times — a quieter world of true countrymen and women who know so much they appreciate how much more there is to learn.
