TO CATCH A FISH

Black & Yellow Skullhead

A great-looking fly, it is one of the Skullhead range developed by the famous Ronald Sutherland, of Helmsdale.

This pattern incorporates the classic salmon colours of yellow and black, while the Skullhead ensures that the fly has the weight to get down to deep-lying fish. Although primarily thought of as spring colours, I have considerable success with this in autumn and in higher water, deeper pools and fast runs. This is a firm favourite of mine.
