Climate change affects Sweden’s elk

-

Sweden’s elk are getting smaller and fewer in number. Climate change has dried out moose habitat in Sweden, reducing the amount of food available to them, while political pressure has also had a role. Researcher Fredrik Widemo told the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter: “There has been a political desire to reduce the number of moose because it was not considered that the damage to the forest was acceptable. So the reduction is primarily an effect of more intensive moose hunting.”
