This famous salmon pattern has been adapted on to the riffle-hitch plastic tube, which has proved a phenomenal success for salmon and grilse and is still worth considering in autumn on shallow pools and low water. This slim dressing is designed to skip across the water surface, causing a wake across the slowest of pools. The plastic tube allows your hook to fit and hold at the rear of the fly. This is achieved due to the line exiting the side of the tube, rather than the top, causing the fly to ride up in the water and skate across the surface.
