ATKIN, GRANT & LANG

This leather label with gold-embossed lettering is from the amalgamation of a number of British gun-making names. Stephen Grant & Joseph Lang Ltd was formed in 1925. That company was incorporated with Henry Atkin to form Atkin, Grant & Lang in 1960. The company changed again to Churchill, Atkin, Grant & Lang in 1971. So, this is a 1960s label. It shows just how many previously independent companies had been acquired under the AGL banner by 1960. Today, Akin, Grant & Lang remain combined but all the other names on the label shown here are once again independent traders, having been sold off at various times. DH
