Shooting party hurt in crash
Members of a shooting party have been injured in a helicopter crash in North Wales. Shooting Times understands that the party were leaving after shooting on an estate near Ruthin when the accident occurred.
Media reports indicate that racehorse owner Dai Walters and trainer Sam Thomas were among those aboard the aircraft when it came down. Remarkably, none of those on board suffered life-changing or threatening injuries.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called shortly before 17.30 last night, Tuesday, 1 November, to reports of a helicopter crash in woodland near Llanelidan, Ruthin.
“We sent a paramedic in a rapid response car and three emergency ambulances to the scene, where crews were also supported by emergency medical retrieval and transfer service colleagues and a duty operations manager. Two patients were taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital.”
In a short statement, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch confirmed that it was investigating the incident.
If you know a game hero, you have until 20 November to nominate them for an Eat Game award. Perhaps a local pub makes an outstanding pheasant pie, a shoot helps get game to the needy or an influencer helps promote it online. To nominate them, please head to eatgame.co.uk
It’s important to learn how to identify and treat ‘hunting dog hypoglycemia’, which can occur when dogs are working hard. This condition is caused by exhausting the supply of blood sugar. Dogs may appear weak, shaky and uncoordinated and often have seizures. Specialist dog energy gels are the best treatment, but in a pinch any naturally sugary food a dog will readily eat will do. After an attack, keep your dog warm and seek veterinary advice.
