FIVE YARDS IS NOT A SMALL DISTANCE
Stephen Judd (Letters, 2 November) misrepresents what I wrote when he states “a consensus of opinion would concur with Alasdair Mitchell’s view that standard steel can kill pheasants cleanly up to about 30 yards”. He sees this as “a severe reduction in lethal performance” compared with the traditional 45-yard maximum.
