CUTTING OUT

-

Step one Prewash all fabric and kraft-tex before cutting.

Step two From the baby shoes templates reduce or enlarge the patterns as noted below. Then prepare sole, toe, heel, toe accent A and B, and tab templates.

For 0–3 month size, reduce all patterns 86%.

For 6–9 month size, enlarge all patterns 106%.

For 9–12 month size, enlarge all patterns 120%. Step three From the kraft-tex

Toe Accent A: one and one reversed

Toe Accent B: one and one reversed

Tabs: two

Step four From the main fabric cut:

Sole: two

Toe: two

Heel: two

Step four From the lining fabric cut:

Sole: two

Toe: two

Heel: two

Thread one piece through the casing, using a safety pin to guide it through. Sew a small stitch to tack the elastic at both ends of the casing.

Step four Sew the kraft-tex accents on one main fabric toe, overlapping by 1/8in.

Step five Line up the bottom corners of the main fabric heel with the corners of the main fabric toe, right sides facing. Stitch each side to secure.

Step six Match the lining toe on the opposite side, and stitch.

Step seven Turn right side out, and top- stitch 1/4in from the seam.

Step eight Match the triangle points of the outer sole and top shoe piece with RS facing and pin together. Stitch all the way around.

Step nine Pin and sew the sole lining on the opposite side, leaving a 2in opening in the back of the shoe.

Step ten Turn shoe through the 2in hole. Sew the hole in the lining closed. Turn shoe RS out.

Step eleven Repeat the above steps to make the second shoe - but this time using the reversed toe accents (on step four) so that the finished pair of shoes are mirrored.
