Dynamic duet

NASA SOLAR DYNAMICS OBSERVATORY, 4/5 OCTOBER 2017 These active regions on the Sun were captured by NASA’s orbiting Solar Dynamics Observatory in ultraviolet light; a wavelength that can reveal plasma heated to over 1 million ºC. The loops seen bursting out from the Sun’s surface are charged particles spinning along magnetic field lines.
