Mark­ing- out tools, in­clud­ing a ruler, square and pen­cil; a cop­ing saw or sim­i­lar; a drill and bits for screws, in­clud­ing a large Forstner bit to suit a com­pass.

A small quan­tity of good- qual­ity wood, mea­sur­ing ap­prox­i­mately 75x15x400m­m-long (we used some 18mm-thick oak of­f­cuts); a small piece of thin­ner wood for the sides such as 6mm-ply­wood or sim­i­lar.

Sun­dries in­clude a small in­ex­pen­sive com­pass, two wood­screws ap­prox­i­mately 25mm (round­head look nice), two small wash­ers, a length of dark thread or fine string and a small nut or fish­ing weight. To appy a fin­ish you’ll need some oil or var­nish, or suit­able paint.
