Windsor were ‘good value’ for their point
At the age of 34, Paul Coyne was the most experienced player in Windsor’s youthful looking starting 11 on Saturday, and he led by example as the hosts held runaway leaders Westfields to a 1-1 draw.
Coyne enjoyed a fine afternoon for the home side in the heart of midfield, effortlessly transitioning play between defence and attack and, after the final whistle, he was slightly disappointed the Royalists weren’t able to convert one point into all three.
“I thought it was a good result and I thought we might go nick it at the end,” he said.
“But I think we’d have taken a point before the game.
“It was a bit of a shame (to concede shortly after scoring). Our left back has headed it onto the man behind and unfortunately it’s gone over Nojus’ (Trinovas) head.
“It’s swings and roundabouts unfortunately and we’re still happy with the performance.
“Coops (Mark Cooper) and Spen (Spencer Meredith) said right from the start Westfields are quite an offensive side so I think it gave our right and left wing a bit of time on the ball when we did get it. Our right and left back, Kai (Davis) and Tyler (Gregory) were superb today anyway so it gave us that chance.“
“I think there were too many good performances today to pick out a man of the match. We were very good and very disciplined.”
