Time to stop using bearskins for Queen’s Guard caps

-

People would surely think twice before posing for photos with the Queen’s Guard if they realised who their iconic caps are made from.

Many of the black bears whose fur is used to make the caps endure slow, agonising deaths – just to make ornamental headgear that serves no military purpose.

A humane version could be quick-marched into service now if the top brass at the Ministry of Defence (MoD) weren’t stuck in the Napoleonic era and refusing to make the switch to an identical faux bear fur, despite being offered the material for free until 2030.

The MoD has spent £1million of taxpayers’ money on these cruelly produced caps in the past seven years alone. Her Majesty the Queen has stopped buying fur, so why are her guards still wearing it?

The animal-loving British public must stand up to this nonsense and sign the petition (petition.parliament. uk/petitions/602285) demanding a changing of the guard’s caps now.
