An awards evening was held on Sunday night to celebrate Slough Rugby Club's youth section and their achievements this season.

All the club's youth players, from u7s through to u14s received an award to mark their participation, however, further awards were also given to the 'most improved player', 'coaches player' and 'player of the season' in each age group. The John Spandley Award for Perseverance went to u12s player Sam Woolnough while u9s player Ashleigh Malachi Makawa, from the u10s team, won the club's Junior Player of the Year title. The efforts of volunteers were also recognised with u18s coach, Greg Fountain, named as Coach of the Year and Paula Hammond, Donna Austin, Sandie Belcher, and Christina Fountain each receiving flowers for keeping the club's youngsters fed and watered throughout the season.

Paula Hammond also collected the Colin Williams Cup for her 'efforts above and beyond' while the Austin family picked up the Neville Cup and Leeann Biggs was awarded The Vase.

The awards were presented by Youth Chairman Martin Tilby and Club President Ray Gagnon, who said: “I was very pleased to see so many Juniors and parents attending. It was well organised and a pleasure to see the number of volunteers from the parents who have an input into the Junior section. It was also good to see such a mixture of male and female Junior players. Well done to all volunteers.”
