Silence from council over climate criticism
The silence has been deafening.
Last month the RBWM Climate Emergency Coalition issued a damning report on the council’s progress against its own Environment and Climate Change Strategy.
In short, the council failed to achieve three of its four key actions for 2021, and failed to put in place some of the most basic checks and balances necessary for success.
As I’ve said in previous letters, I strongly suspect that the council has been intentionally avoiding governance and scrutiny of the strategy in order to hide its lack of progress.
Now there’s nowhere left to hide, unless the CEC’s report is incorrect of course.
However, since publication of the report, nothing. No outrage. No claims that the report is unfair. Just silence. It’s gone completely unchallenged.
So I can only assume that the report is correct, and that the council’s performance has been as poor as the CEC claim.
The Emperor clearly isn’t wearing any clothes.
