Frontline hit Datchet for six in league cup

The wet conditions led to several cancellations in the Thames Valley Football Development League this weekend, but a few games did survive the weather.

Frontline Juniors progressed into the second round of the u12s League Cup after a 6-1 win over Datchet, while Maidenhead Warriors defeated Sporttiers 6-0 away from home to put their name in the hat for the next round.

Berks Elite were also comfortable 3-0 winners over Townmead Youth Whites to progress in the competition.

There were also plenty of goals in the Wycombe and South Bucks Minor Football League where the Maidenhead United Youth Cobras u15s were beaten 4-2 by Golden Eagles u15s.

The Eagles soared into an early lead through Ayaan Usman’s strike, but Maidenhead levelled the match and then scored a second to take the lead.

Usman’s second of the game drew the sides level once more and he then completed his hattrick to restore the Eagles’ lead. As Maidenhead tired in the latter stages, the Eagles then bagged a fourth goal through Wali Jafri’s spectacular shot.

Holyport u15s’ defence was in resolute form as they defeated Aylesbury United Junior Colts 4-2 away from home.

Aylesbury got off to a flyer, scoring twice inside the opening 15 minutes following counter attacks. But Holyport refused to panic, and Robert Hern created space in the box to slot home and make it 2-1 before the break.

The visitors upped the tempo after half-time and were soon level thanks to a second goal from Hern. Lewis Balfe then scored to give Holyport the lead late on and Ethan Kearney added a fourth to put the result beyond all doubt. Aylesbury never gave up and claim close to a third during a goalmouth scramble in the final seconds, but the Holyport defence held firm.
