Former pro Haylock named as new boss
Windsor FC have named former professional player Garry Haylock as their new first team manager following Diogo Nobre's departure for personal reasons.
Nobre took over the Royalists on the eve of the current campaign and guided them to four victories in 17 fixtures in the Combined Counties League Division 1.
A statement published on Monday, November 20 read: “We are sorry to announce the departure of Diogo Nobre, our first team manager, who is leaving us for personal reasons.
“Diogo joined us with just one week to prepare for the new season and his work ethic and desire for success over the subsequent months has been undeniable.
“We will always be grateful for his dedication during his time with us and wish him every success for the future.”
Now, after a lengthy period of time with an assistant manager at the helm, it appears Windsor FC and chairman Kevin Stott have found their new man with a statement posted on X this afternoon (Tuesday) reading: “We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Garry Haylock as Windsor FC’s first team manager.
“A former professional footballer with Huddersfield Town, Shelbourne and Portadown amongst others, Garry’s extensive coaching and management experience includes periods at Hayes & Yeading United in the National League and Farnborough Town, as well as time spent at Exeter City as first team coach and analyst.
“Most recently, Garry was first team manager at local side Binfield. Garry said: ‘I was planning to take a break from football but the opportunity to manage Windsor and develop young players through the Windsor and Beaconsfield partnership came up and was ideal for me.’”
The Royalists face Yateley at Holloways Park this weekend (Saturday, January 13) which will be Haylock’s first game in charge.
