Portal helps you stay up-to-date
Find out about planning applications, road closures, licensing applications and other key developments where you live by logging on to the Public Notice Portal.
The Public Notice Portal is backed by local publishers in membership of the News Media Association – including the team behind the Maidenhead Advertiser and Slough & Windsor Express – and displays thousands of public notices at any given time.
It is an initiative aimed at further promoting public notices to communities and enhancing local democracy by harnessing the local news sector’s massive online audiences.
Statutory public notices help keep the wider public informed about key issues, from plans to develop a block of flats in your neighbourhood to an application by your local bar or pub to serve alcohol for longer.
You can find out about traffic orders and road closures affecting your travel plans, and keep up to date with the latest changes proposed by your local council.
The Public Notice Portal has been developed by the local news media industry – including Reach plc which built the website – with £1million from the Google News Initiative.
The portal is fully searchable by postcode, type of notice, and – in addition to operating as a standalone site – delivers notifications for users who have signed up to receive alerts about particular types of notices, or notices relating to a specific geographic area.
You can also access it by using the widget that appears in our online stories about public notices.
