Edgar appointed Rebels’ emerging talent scout
Slough Town have appointed Darren Edgar as the club's new emerging talent scout.
In their efforts to discover untapped gems in the local area and polish them into first team prospects, Darren has been brought in to try and keep the Rebels ahead of the curve locally.
In his role, he'll attempt to keep abreast of emerging young talent on the non-league scene while working closely with the Rebels’ senior coaching team to help forge a path for players towards first team football at Arbour Park
He is no stranger to the club, having been part of the Academy 23 set up since 2021, assisting Martin Kuhl with the EDS squad.
He is well trusted and relied upon within the club as having a good eye for a player.
Darren has already been to several matches over the past few months to watch certain players and the club have said his enthusiasm for the game and finding and developing is 'infectious',
Speaking after his appointment was announced last week, Darren said: “I am delighted to be part of the team at Slough Town Football Club.
“It’s a brilliant setup with outstanding people who are passionate and dedicated, and of course the fans who are incredible supporters of the team.
“I have a great passion for scouting as it’s very rewarding seeing players progress in their careers and move onto higher levels within the game.
“I’m delighted to get started and can’t wait for the rest of the season to see where it takes us between now and the end of April.”
First team player manager Scott Davies also welcomed Darren to the club with a message on X, saying: “Delighted that Darren is taking on this role.
“His enthusiasm and eye for detail is second to
none, so with that being said, we know we’ve got someone who is massively invested in helping to improve our group by going out and watching games when we can’t get there.”
