Tributes have been paid to a boutique fashion shop owner who has been an integral part of Windsor’s St Leonard’s Road community for more than 40 years.

Roz Clarke passed away on Tuesday, January 16 and leaves behind a legacy of service to the fashion industry in Windsor and Maidenhead.

She launched her boutique St Leonards Road store alongside her beloved husband Marc in 1980 and has been dressing her many customers in the latest trends ever since.

Roz, who grew up in Cox Green, originally named her business Mango after an orangutan she had spotted on TV.

But it was renamed Roz Clarke Windsor in the 1990s when major European fashion brand, Mango, expanded into the UK.

Her daughter, Holly Clarke, told the Advertiser: “Every year she was at London Fashion Week and she knew her customers so well.

“She was an amazing stylist with an amazing dress sense and she helped a lot of her customers who she classed as her friends organise their wardrobes seasonally.”

Holly recalled how her mum was invited to Downing Street during the tenure of Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair to celebrate women’s fashion.

The Oakley Green resident ran the business alongside her husband of 53 years, Marc.

The couple first met in 1968 and tied the knot at St Mary’s Church, White Waltham, two years later and went on to enjoy a lifetime of happiness together.

Holly added: “Not only did they build a business together – they loved each other and they did everything together.

“In a world where a lot of marriages don’t make it, I think it’s old school to find people who have been married for the length they have been – 53 years.

“They did everything together. She was an amazing mum.”

The 73-year-old also had a love for riding her treasured Harley-Davidson motorbike which she took in trips across Europe.

Roz was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April last year and passed away at home last week.

A service celebrating her life will be taking place at Greenacres Chiltern, Potkiln Lane, Jordans, Beaconsfield on Tuesday, February 6 at 11am.

A wake will be held at Windsor’s Sir Christopher Wren Hotel at 1pm.

People are encouraged to dress ‘as fabulous as possible’ and anyone owning any clothes from her store are invited to wear them if possible.
