Rebels respond on three occasions before claiming win

-

Torquay United 3, Slough Town 4

Slough Town came from behind an astonishing three times to emerge victorious against Torquay United on Saturday, the win lifting the side to a lofty ninth place in the National League South.

Over at the lively Plainmoor ground, Will Jenkins found the back of the net first for the Gulls (20’) before Jeanmal Prosper levelled for the Rebels (28’) – his second goal in two games.

Matty Lench and Nathan Minhas went close next with chances that whistled the woodwork, and new signing Christie Ward later whipped an effort narrowly wide, the half-time score 1-1.

Jenkins Davies (49’) fired Torquay back into the lead swiftly into the second half but Slough found parity again when Johnny Goddard (61’) was quick to react following a mix-up in the box.

In this topsy-turvy clash, Tom Lapslie (69’) drilled in the home side’s third before Dan Bayliss (82’) rose highest in the box and nodded the ball into Mark Halstead’s goal within the final 10 minutes.

It looked like the centreback would have the last say in this contest – a point certainly valued. But, to the delight of the visiting supporters, Leon ChambersParillon

(90+1’) bagged a golden goal in added time to ensure Scott Davies’ men departed Devon with all three.

“What a win that is! To come from behind four times and to find a way to win shows incredible character,” Davies posted on X.

“The boys give the club all they’ve got every single week. Thanks to those that travelled, first class as always. Get me on that party bus back to Berkshire!”
