Chambers-Parillon puts pen to paper on a new contract with the Rebels

-

It’s been a week to remember for Slough Town’s Leon Chambers-Parillon who has committed his future to the Rebels after scoring a late winner in Saturday’s 4-3 win at Torquay United.

Slough stoked their play-off hopes with Saturday’s impressive win over play-off rivals, coming from behind on three occasions before finally turning the tide in their favour at the death.

The Gulls took the lead on three occasions through Jenkins-Davies (twice in the 20th and 49th minute) and Lapslie in the 69th minute, but on each occasion the Rebels came up with an answer, levelling the score on each occasion with strikes from Jeanmal Prosper, Johnny Goddard and Dan Bayliss.

It looked like the thrilling match at Plainmoor might finish honours even until the 91st minute when Chambers-Parillon grabbed an injury-time winner.

Goddard created it, firing a powerful shot goalwards which the second half substitute managed to turn home. It earned the Rebels their first away game in just over a month and moved them up to ninth in the table, just four points off the play-off places heading into Saturday’s home game against Chippenham Town.

Leon celebrated his match winner by putting pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him with the Rebels until the end of the 2024/25 season.

He joins Dan Bayliss and David Ogbonna in committing to the Rebels for next season. Leon joined the Rebels last summer following an earlier loan spell from Oxford United which was prematurely ended by injury in April 2022. He has made 28 appearances for the side so far this season but his best moment yet came against the Gulls on Saturday, scoring the goal which sealed Slough’s first ever win over Torquay.

Manager, Scott Davies said: “Once again, this is great news. Having played with Leon a few years ago when he came on loan to Biggleswade Town from Oxford United, I realised how good he could be and it’s brilliant to see that he’s starting to show it.

“There’s been no doubt in my mind that he has all the attributes to be a top player.

“This season has been one of learning for Leon, getting used to playing regularly, and although at times it’s been disrupted by injuries, I think he’s been excellent. For a player that was in and out of the team at Step 4 last year, he’s been a great addition for us and one that we are delighted to work with again next season.”
