Tackling violence through music

-

Young musical artists performed live in Windsor on Sunday – under the wing of a Slough group that works to tackle violence by supporting creative pursuits.

Members of the Love Music Hate Violence team were booked to DJ and MC at the Ignition Valentines under 18s event, held at The Boom in The Arches.

The team, led by the Langley artist Stephen Ambrose (also known by his stage name Stevoss) aims to ‘spread peace and love’ through music, fostering creativity.

Sunday’s line-up featured the DJ, Mason B, aged 13, and Rage MC, aged 16.

This was their first Ignition booking and both young artists were ‘very excited to be performing.’

Both Mason B and Rage are active members in the Positive Music team headed up by Stevoss, who has been mentoring and support the creative youngsters.

Love Music Hate Violence is based at the Britwell Youth & Community Project youth club in Wentworth Avenue.

It is currently carrying out awareness on the danger of carrying knives, engaging in racism and bullying.

The team is ‘passionate about supporting young people to step out and be a beacon of light for those who may be struggling.’

Last year, it launched its music van, which the team will be using to carry out street outreach and creative workshops in schools.

Jay Sound, 12 years old from Watford, has been the first to test the van out.

The Police and Crime Commissioner has awarded Love Music Hate Violence with a grant from the Community Fund 2024 to use the van in schools to carry out knife crime awareness using creative arts.
