Defender Temi departs Rebels to pursue new challenge

- Temi Eweka

Slough Town have confirmed last week that central defender Temi Eweka has left the club to pursue a new challenge.

Temi has had two spells with the Rebels, initially joining on loan in January 2023 where he helped Davies’ side pick up 19 points in 15 matches and played a huge role in ensuring the club’s National League South survival.

He then signed for the club on a permanent basis in the summer of 2023 and made a further 46 appearances last season as the Rebels finished in the top half of the table and also reached the first round of the FA Cup.

Scott Davies had the following to say on Temi’s departure: “Temi has decided that he will be leaving the football club. We’ve had several conversations over the past couple of months about where his future lies, but in the past few days he’s made it clear to me that he’s been offered a deal which was too good to turn down.

“Temi has a huge desire to play full time football and this move will ensure that he’s able to do that. As a part time club, it’s sometimes difficult to retain our better players when full time clubs come calling and this has proved to be the case in this situation.

“As I said to Temi, I’m delighted that he’s been able to secure a move where he can train every day, but on the other hand we will most definitely miss what he brings to the team and the football club as a whole.

“There’s no denying that he’s been absolutely brilliant for us, but also me personally. He’s chosen Slough as his home on two occasions when he could’ve gone elsewhere but now it’s time for him to move on with nothing but our thanks and appreciation for what he’s given us in the time he’s been at the club.

“A fantastic player and character that anyone would be lucky to have.”
