Slough RFC come together to celebrate achievements of youth section
Slough Rugby Club's youth section gathered last week to celebrate the achievements of its teams and individuals at an awards ceremony on Sunday last week (April 28).
Presiding over the event was youth chairman, Paul Hammond and club president Ray Gagnon and every player who pulled on a Slough shirt this season was presented with a memento award.
Each age group team was also presented with a player of the season award while there were also sectionwide trophies that were handed out.
The John Spandley award for perseverance went to u10s player Julien Janot while Zachary Norton from the U8s won the Junior Player of the Year title and U7s player Aaqib Faiz picked up the Mick Curley Fair Play Award.
The efforts of the clubs’ volunteers also didn't go unrecognised with u8s coach James Quincey named as Coach of the Year.
Andrew Leighton-Pope was presented with the Neville Cup, Donna Austin the Vase and Maddison Austin the Colin Williams Cup for going 'above and beyond' what is expected at the club.
All the club's coaches, clubhouse volunteers and Saturday ball boys also received a thank you gift each.
Youth Chairman Paula Hammond said: “On Sunday with the help of Club President Ray Gagnon, I presented the awards to the Youth Section for my first time as Chair. I was pleased to see so many of our players and parents attend the event.
“I am very proud of the players, coaches, parents, and volunteers who turn up every Sunday to support the club. Watching the players develop their skills and demonstrate the core values of Rugby (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship) is always a pleasure.
