BETHANY HAS A MELTDOWN WHEN SHE RETURNS TO WORK AT A LAP-DANCING CLUB! LUCY FALLON REVEALS ALL...
It’s only been a few weeks, but Bethany Platt’s already had enough of working in the salon. She has a go at a male customer who pays her a compliment, then she storms out when she hears Audrey Roberts, David Platt and Craig Tinker talking about her. ‘She needs a job and she hears Tassels has a new owner, so she asks her friend, Sam Bryce, to get her an audition,’ actress Lucy Fallon tells Soaplife. ‘Then she goes down to the bar where the new owner agrees to take her on.’ But when a group of blokes start trying to grab her while she’s dancing, traumatised Bethany has a flashback to the abuse she suffered at the hands of Nathan Curtis – and she can’t help but lash out…
Is Bethany pleased to be working as a lap dancer again?
The club has changed from what it was like and now the girls are wearing much skimpier outfits. The manager hands her a bikini, but she says she’s brought her own clothes to wear. She still wants to call the shots, but she senses it might not be like it was when Lulu was running it.
What happens when she starts dancing?
The new owner makes her dance for a table of men out on a stag night. They keep trying to touch her, but no one tells them to stop. When she worked for Lulu, it was very much a no-touching policy. The men get very up-close and she starts feeling panicky, especially as she thinks she sees Nathan.
Nathan Curtis? What?!
The ‘stag’ starts really getting in her face. Bethany has a total panic attack, flashing back to when she was with Nathan and his gang. All she can see in her head is Nathan. She grabs a bottle, smashes it on the table, then glasses him with it. It’s very quick. She doesn’t even have time to think. The next thing, the guy is bleeding everywhere and the police have been called.
What happens when Bethany’s taken back to the police station?
She’s very upset. Her mum Sarah suggests she needs to get help and go back for more counselling. She’s at a real low point.
How has the trauma she went through at the hands of Nathan changed her?
It’s changed her for ever. The lap-dancing chapter is another part of that journey. She was doing the lap-dancing because she felt like she was in control, but now she knows she wasn’t. She’s put herself in more danger and now she may have a criminal record.
Will this come between her and Craig?
Craig blames himself for Bethany getting into trouble and this starts to trigger his OCD. She notices he’s behaving strangely, but she doesn’t understand what’s going on. Hopefully she’ll be there for him once she realises what he’s going through.
