Jellyfish swarm closes beaches
FAMILIES heading to Spain’s Costa Blanca for a getaway could see themselves limited to the hotel pool if they need a swim to cool down.
The beautiful coastline is a favourite of Brits hoping for a sunny stay in the sun and only a two and a half hour flight from Birmingham Airport. However, holiday makers heading there may have no choice but to avoid the beach.
An invasion of Portuguese Man O’ Wars has closed most of the region’s beaches to swimmers. The swarm of jellyfish- type creatures can be deadly to swimmers from the sting in their tentacles. Nearly every beach from El Campello north of Alicante down to Pillar de La Horadada – is off limits.
