Councillor asks home question
A SOLIHULL councillor has sought assurances that steps are being taken to prevent a repeat of the wellpublicised problems reported at a Chelmsley Wood care home.
Chelmund’s Court, in Pomeroy Way, was engulfed in controversy this summer, after a Care Quality Commission ( CQC) inspection ranked it “inadequate” in all areas.
Since then the operator, Runwood Homes, has been following an improvement plan.
Councillor Jo Fairburn ( Lib Dem, Olton) said that Runwood was building a new facility in her own ward and asked: “What are we going to put in place to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen in another of their homes in our borough?”
Caroline Potter, finance manager for adult care and support, said that the council was looking to work more closely with “any provider” planning to open a home in the borough.
