Airport gets a big boost with two new openings
BIRMINGHAM Airport has announced two new openings at the transport hub.
SSP Group, an operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, is to launch an M& S Food to Go early next year while No1 Lounges has opened a second passenger lounge.
Chief executive of SSP Group Kate Swann said: “We’re extremely excited to be opening the first ever airside M& S.
“Bringing together M& S’s food innovation and SSP’s operational expertise, the new store has been designed for airport customers.
“We’ve worked closely with the development team at M& S to create an offering that will appeal to people flying through Birmingham Airport. We hope this will be the first of many more to come”. Richard Gill, acting commercial director at Birmingham Airport, added: “We’re delighted to be welcoming M& S Food to Go here at Birmingham Airport. It’s a great addition to our already excellent offering and we have no doubt the M& S will deliver a great customer experience for the 13 million passengers we welcome through our doors every year.”
In a separate announcement, the airport has unveiled its second No1 Lounges following the launch of its first at Birmingham Airport in 2012.
The new lounge will open under the firm’s ‘ Clubrooms’ brand and is designed in the style of a modern members’ club with table service and à la carte dining.
Phil Cameron, founder and chief executive of No1 Lounges, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be opening our second lounge at Birmingham Airport.”
