Comedy star’s message to leukaemia- battling Josh, 9
COMIC celebrity Michael McIntyre is known for his big show Send To All.
Now, he’s sending a message to nine- year- old leukaemia fighter Josh Nicholson, from Solihull.
In a video, Josh’s mum Vicky introduces Michael, who proceeds to send him well wishes and a “Merry Christmas”.
Josh was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in August 2014 when he was aged just five.
Since then, he has had a number of complications including three episodes of acute pancreatitis caused by cancer- treating medicines.
In January 2017, Josh, from Ferndown Road, had an extraordinary amount of chemotherapy and eight rounds of total body irradiation.
That was before he had a stem cell transplant using his two- yearold brother Luke’s cells and bone marrow in April 2017.
The transplant had gone well but within a few months Josh was faced with secondary pneumonia and was on life support for nearly two weeks.
To the surprise of medical staff, Josh managed to fight back and despite being on 24- hour oxygen, he began rebuilding his life back at home in Solihull.
Unfortunately, Josh’s leukaemia recently relapsed in his central nervous system.
Chemotherapy began straight away and he is now currently undergoing relatively new treatment called “Car T Cell” therapy at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Michael McIntyre’s video is the latest well- wishing message Josh has received. He has previously been sent messages from celebrity chef, Chelmsley Wood’s Glynn Purnell.
Josh’s mum says the family is overwhelmed by the reaction and support for Josh and his fight.
“We have been overwhelmed by the love and support from people far and wide,” she says. “We thank you all so very much. “Josh was very pleased with the video from Michael.
“He found it really funny!”
