The Mayor of Ilmin­ster, Cllr

Phil Burton, cut the rib­bon and of­fi­cially opened the Ilmin­ster Em­po­rium in its new home, in the old RA Dyer shop on

Sil­ver Street. Guests en­joyed re­fresh­ments pro­vided by Bon­ners and Wineworld, be­fore meet­ing some of the traders in­clud­ing The Chair Ladies, Ar­tie

Flora, Nat­u­ral Baby Ac­ces­sories, Marc Wood Be­spoke Join­ery and For­get Me Not De­signs. Orig­i­nally a drap­ers shop, R A Dyer had been in busi­ness since 1870 be­fore its clo­sure in 2014. Ilmin­ster Em­po­rium has re­tained the her­itage of the build­ing, keep­ing the shop lay­out and re­in­stat­ing one of the orig­i­nal ma­hogany coun­ters.
