Singer performs for mates during 15,000ft skydive
THIS the moment a singer performed an intimate gig to three friends – while skydiving 15,000ft from a helicopter deep inside the Arctic circle.
Bullet for My Valentine lead singer Matt Tuck strummed his guitar as he parachuted towards the earth – before continuing his unlikely show with songs on the back of a moving speedboat and while being pulled by huskies.
The set, billed as a world first by organiser Jägermeister, saw the Bridgend-born singer face temperatures well below freezing as he played a set for three of his closest friends 192 miles north
is of the Arctic Circle.
Tuck and his audience started with a drop from a helicopter 15,000ft above Lyngsfjord, Norway, into the -30°C air.
After his parachute opened at 7,000ft, the singer grabbed a guitar and played his band’s 2010 single The Last Fight, which was transmitted to his fellow skydivers through earphones.
The group then whizzed across Lyngsfjord in a speedboat as Tuck played the band’s hit track You Want a Battle Here’s a War, which reached number three in the UK.
After they arrived back on dry land the gig finished with the group being led across the snow by Siberian huskies towards the Gukkesgaissa mountains as Tuck played Bittersweet Memories.
The 36-year-old performer said it was one of the “most extreme” shows he’d ever played.
“I’ve played some incredible gigs around the world but that was right up there – literally,” he said.
“It’s my first skydiving experience so dealing with the excitement and nerves – even before you add in the ruthless cold – was intense but totally worth it.”
