The couple: Rhianon Holley, 30, from Rumney, Cardiff, and Elliott Plain, 30, from Thornhill, Cardiff. Rhianon is a PR and marketing executive and Elliott is a podiatrist. They live in Cardiff Bay. The venue: The wedding ceremony took place at Cardiff Castle, followed by an evening reception at The Vale Resort, Hensol, on January 16. How they met: The couple became friends at high school and started going out during their last year in 2001 and have been together ever since. The proposal: The proposal took place on Christmas Day, 2014.

Rhianon said: “I noticed a new decoration on the Christmas tree. I then walked into the living room and it had ‘Rhianon will you marry me?’ on it.” The wedding: Rhianon and Elliott wanted a small wedding ceremony for close family and friends for their big day, so chose the tower guest room at Cardiff Castle.

Rhianon arrived at the venue in a 1946 Morris eight car which belonged to a close friend of her father.

She said: “The location was perfect as we are both from Cardiff and wanted a historic venue, plus the photographs were set against a beautiful backdrop during a crisp, sunny winter’s day.”

Having such an intimate wedding, Rhianon’s niece and nephew, Gemma and Ben, were bridesmaid and page boy, and Elliott’s two brothers took on the role of best men. The couple chose to have big party rather than

a having a wedding breakfast.

After the photographs were taken at the castle, they headed for the evening reception at the Vale Resort, where they celebrated with 150 guests, a live band and buffet until the early hours.

Rhianon are Elliott are both keen football fans, with Rhianon supporting Tottenham Hotspur and Elliott a Cardiff City fan, so they incorporated this into the theme by sending out football ticket invites, football sweet trees for the table centrepieces, an autograph area and a football-themed wedding cake. The honeymoon: The couple travelled to Iceland for a five-day break on January 19, and are heading to France in the summer to watch Wales play at Euro 2016.
