Join rugby legend’s walk for Velindre

-

THE annual Martyn Williams Walk for Velindre will be taking place on Sunday, June 19, in Porthcawl.

It will be the seventh walk that Martyn has led for Velindre.

He is a patron of the charity.

The previous routes have included Pen y Fan, followed by 3 Lighthouse Walks along the Heritage Coastline, and last year’s route through the Rhondda.

This year, the walk starts at 10am and finishes at the Hi Tide Inn, Porthcawl.

It takes in the fair, lighthouse and follows the coast up to Locks Common and across the stunning Rest Bay, on to the boardwalk and past Sker House, and on to Sker Point.

Tea and coffee will be available at the Lifeguards Hut, and it will be an ideal opportunity for walkers to enjoy their goodies kindly supplied by Braces Bread.

Each walker who enters by June 3 will receive an exclusive Martyn Williams Walk goody bag.

His walks have raised well over £60,000 for Velindre and the threetime British Lion is looking forward to his walk.

He said: “The walks have been really well supported over the years and are a great day out – I’m particularly looking forward T-shirt and to this one as we did it for the first time last year and had a great turnout.

“The route hugs the coastline and there are some terrific views.

“Our Velindre Victory over Cancer campaign has been really well supported and hopefully this walk will help to raise funds so that Velindre can continue to provide the best possible support to every patient, their families and carers dealing with cancer.” ■ To enter the walk please register at:www. velindrefundraising. com/bookonline, phone 029 2031 6211, or email info@velindre fundraising.com for an entry form.
