BABIES Baby Florrie arrived 10 days early

-

Baby’s name: (Florrie). Date and place of birth: April 19 at 10.30am at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Weight: 6lb 5oz. Parents: Steph, 43, a family support worker and Ed, 37, a training manager for a charity, who live in Whitchurch. Mum’s story: It was quite hard for us to choose a name for Florrie because we both liked completely different names.

We didn’t know if we were having a boy or a girl and Ed likes traditional names but I like more wacky names, so we met in the middle.

We call her Florrie but Ed was adamant we had a full name on the birth certificate, not just the abbreviation.

I really liked Effie but there was no way we were having Euphemia on her birth certificate!

But I think the name Florence is very pretty.

Her middle name is Ellie, which is my mum’s name, and we’re very close and Florrie is her first grandchild. Florence Ellie Arnoll

Florrie came 10 days early, just a day after the baby shower.

My waters broke on the Sunday evening and I was still in full-time work so I had to phone my boss on the Monday morning to say I couldn’t come in because I was in labour.

I was on the phone but I had to go because I was having contractions.

He said it was the first time he had ever had anyone call in to say they couldn’t come to work because they’re literally in labour.

I’ve been trying to join some groups to talk to other parents to ask questions.

Babies don’t come with a manual so we’ve been going with the flow.

We’ve been to Yumi Yoga and it definitely calmed her down because she slept like a dream.

Florrie is very chilled and is smiley and giggly.

She looks like both of us – she has my nose and ears and her dad’s eyes and forehead so she really is a combination of the two of us.

It has been a bit of a whirlwind and Florrie is fab, she’s a little star.
