Bethan’s pocket guide to career in music

-

BBC Wales presenter Bethan Elfyn will host a pocket guide to music, radio and blogging, with a little help from some special guests she’s met along the way in her music career.

Bethan – who is currently on maternity leave after the birth of her second daughter Celyn, a sister for five-year-old Tegan – said: “I’m bringing together a host of amazing women who I have met throughout my own career in music, so that potential musicians, bloggers or anyone who wants to work in the music industry can hear what they’ve got to say.

“They are all really interesting women with brilliant stories to tell. There’s Julie Weir from Sony Music, who I’ve known for years and is the label head of Music for Nations. She signed Bullet For My Valentine and is really knowledgable about the industry.

“There is also Helen Weatherhead, a producer from Six Music, as well as music blogger Anastasia Connor.

“It can be really hard to get into the music industry and I honestly believe that nothing beats face-toface interaction.

“It’s all too easy to email, send a DM or a private message on Facebook, but actually getting to meet someone to talk is so much better and more effective.

“This will be a great opportunity for people, but it will also be very relaxed and interactive and I’m hoping people bring demos and questions.

“The reaction so far has been amazing. It’s just great to bring these women to Wales.” ■■It will be at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, Preseli Room, from 4-7pm. Cost £5.
