Christmas cards help homeless

-

THIS weekend you can get your hands on exclusively designed, limited edition Christmas cards to support a good cause.

Welsh artists have teamed up to create eight differently designed cards which will raise money for people who are homeless in Cardiff.

The project has been masterminded by I Loves the ‘Diff founder Chris Amodeo.

An eclectic mix of artists and designers have agreed to take part and give up their time and expertise for free all to help homeless people.

Phil Morgan, who created the iconic Dude Looks Like a Welsh Lady mural in the city, is one of the artists.

Matt Needle, a designer and illustrator who has worked for the likes of Disney Pixar, 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures is another, as is Super Furry Animals’ artist Pete Fowler.

The exclusive limited edition designs range from classic Christmas images like Santa Claus to cool typography, funny puns, a robin, a yeti.

The packs of eight cards will only be sold today and tomorrow at St David’s shopping centre.

Only 1,000 of each design will be printed.

Each pack will cost £8 and can only be bought at the shopping centre.

South Wales Echo staff will be selling the cards between 10am and 4pm today.

Volunteers will also be selling them tomorrow.

The stall will be on the first floor, near Gap and The North Face.

The money from every pack sold will go straight to our Reaching Out to Rough Sleepers campaign.

The Wallich, along with the Echo, is trying to raise £75,000 to pay for five vehicles which will go out every day of the year to offer support and help to people sleeping rough in Cardiff.

Amy Lee Pierce, from The Wallich, said: “A huge thanks to Chris for his, and his brand’s, continuing support of our charity.

“We cannot believe the calibre of artists he has managed to get on board with this project – it has far exceeded any of our expectations.

“We are so excited to share these exclusive designs with the people of Cardiff and to use the money we raise to continue our vital working getting people off the streets and into a place of warmth and safety.”
