A GROUP of seriously-ill children from Wales spent a “truly magical day” on a dream Christmas trip to London.

Cardiff-based charity Dreams and Wishes works to grant the wishes of seriously ill children and support their families through difficult times.

Every year the charity takes a group of families to visit the House of Commons and 10 Downing Street for a Christmas trip like no other.

This year, 13 children and their families visited the House of Commons to meet the Speaker, John Bercow, and then visited 10 Downing Street.

The children received gifts from Santa Claus, and met Britain’s Got Talent star Jodi Bird, along with Disney princesses Cinderella, Moana, Snow White and Anna, who serenaded the room with Christmas carols.

One mother described it as “a truly magical day that has given us memories to cherish forever”.

Amy Morgan, mother of four-year-old Tilly, described the day as “unbelievable”.

She said: “It has been absolutely amazing to see smiles on faces, but also to see the children with not a care in the world and forgetting their troubles.”

Hayley Allison, mother of 16-yearold Lanna, said: “It was a truly stunning day. It has been lovely to see every child with a huge smile on their face, even though they are going through a very difficult time in their life.”

Lanna said: “Thank you Dreams and Wishes for the best day ever, I’m still in shock!”

Throughout the trip the children were escorted by four Welsh Guards who were in full ceremonial dress.

Sergeant Kevin Jury said: “We love being involved with the work of Dreams and Wishes. It is a truly remarkable charity underpinned by the core values of the British Army. It is an honour to be a part of creating unforgettable experiences for these children, who continue to inspire us every time we are lucky enough to meet them.”

Chairman of the charity Tony Curtis MBE, who has organised this trip for more than 25 years, said: “This trip has been the perfect end to another successful year of putting smiles on faces.

“Once again the children were amazing and deserve every surprise they received. We are extremely grateful to all those who have supported us and look forward to another year of granting the dreams and wishes of these incredible children.”
