Warning over ‘fake’ Joshua fight tickets

-

FAKE websites are already selling tickets for the Anthony Joshua fight in Cardiff before the official release date on Monday, according to anti-fraud investigators.

Tickets for the blockbuster heavyweight world title bout between Joshua and Joseph Parker at the Principality Stadium go on pre-sale to Matchroom Fight Pass members at midday on Monday and general sale on Tuesday, ahead of the fight on March 31.

But national fraud and cyber crime reporting centre Action Fraud say they have seen websites offering tickets for sale already, which they say is “physically impossible”.

On their website, Action Fraud wrote: “As these tickets do not go on sale until Monday it is physically impossible for these tickets to exist. Any website that is offering tickets for sale before Monday, January 22, is likely to be fraudulent.

“On one of the scam websites we’ve been monitoring you can actually add more VIP ringside seats to the basket and proceed to the payment page than there are seats at ringside.”

They added that last year more than 21,000 people reported falling victim to ticket fraud in the past three years – losing a total of £17m.

Tickets for the fight are being sold by official ticketing partner Stub Hub. Tickets are priced at £40, £60, £80, £100, £150, £200, £300 and £600 and £2,000.

The closer you are to the action the more expensive the ticket – with the ringside VIP tickets costing £2,000.

Coach packages will also be available on Tuesday from See Tickets, with various pick-up and drop-off locations available around the UK. Hospitality packages are available to buy directly from the Principality Stadium Experience, with prices starting from £450 per person plus VAT.
