Inflatable obstacle course is monster fun

-

AN inflatable assault course has landed in Cardiff – and it’s massive.

Sitting inside the Motorpoint Arena, it’s the world’s biggest inflatable obstacle course and tours around country. It’s in Cardiff until tomorrow, June 24. The course, called The Monster, is 300m long and has 42 obstacles to tackle, including the 18m Mega Slide, the curiously named Tunnel of Love and the Bouncy Cage of Doom. And naturally, we had to try it out. The course, which takes “most” people around 20 minutes to complete, is a lot harder than it looks.

You have to warm up at the start with one of the stewards and they’ll even make you dance for a little bit.

But this idiot still managed to roll his ankle half way around the course.

Thinking I was a sort of chubby James Bond (I’m not) I was rolling around and bouncing all over the place.

It seemed majestic and graceful in my head – I’m sure the video reveals otherwise.

The photographer I was with even insisted I limp halfway up the final slide to get that photo finish – but the pity and disappointment in his eyes was obvious. I failed, badly (sorry Rob). You’ll probably do a lot better than me, don’t worry. But it’s not just the course. At each session you’ll find street food pop-ups from the likes of The Grazing Shed and Calabrisella among others and fully stocked bars serving refreshing slush cocktails, craft beers and more.

You’ll also find on-site glitter face painters, as well as a dance floor with resident DJs.

And if The Monster has taken its toll, you can crash out in the giant adult ball pits or bag yourself a spot in one of the 20ft tall inflatable unicorns and flamingo VIP areas.

If you can’t make the Cardiff days, The Monster is also heading to Nottingham, Motorpoint Arena, July 20-22; Edinburgh, Royal Highland Centre, August 9-12; London, Alexandra Palace, August 24-27; and finally Birmingham, NEC, September 21-23.

The Monster is the brainchild of the Nick Zuppar and Joe Arditti who unleashed sell-out events with The Beast in London and Birmingham in 2017.

Tickets cost £23 each and can be bought on The Monster website.
