HOTEL’S TEAS ARE PAW-SOME!

- TYLER MEARS Reporter tyler.mears@walesonline.co.uk

EVER fancied taking your dog for some afternoon tea?

Well, now you can – because a hotel in Bridgend has designed a menu especially for your canine companions.

Coed-y-Mwstwr Hotel is about to start serving Doggy Afternoon Tea – and it even includes a glass of (ahem) “Pawsecco” or a doggy beer!

Claiming to be one of the only places in the UK serving up the treat, the hotel will be launching their doggy menu on Monday.

It includes a number of canine snacks, which come served on a traditional afternoon tea cake tier – except with doggy bowls instead of your usual plates.

The idea has already become a hit after details were posted on Facebook, gaining thousands of shares, likes and comments from dog-lovers across the country.

The Doggy Afternoon Tea includes: bacon and peanut butter bone biscuits and frozen banana and yogurt paw pops; chicken and beef meatloaf; and salmon and sweet potato brownies.

The tea also comes with a bottle of Pawsecco still white “wine” – which is described as a specialised blend of Elderflower, Nettle, Ginseng and Lime flower and is created with the advice of veterinary experts.

If that doesn’t whet their appetite then there’s also a bottle of Bottom Sniffer Beer For Dogs. (Disclaimer – they don’t actually include real alco- hol, so your dog won’t get drunk!)

During summer, afternoon tea is often served outside on the garden lawns.

On rainy days, the tea – which is available between Monday and Thursday and by booking only – can also be served inside the lounge area of the hotel.

The Doggy Afternoon Tea costs £16.95 and every pooch must be accompanied by and owner having afternoon tea - which costs the same price.

The “human” afternoon tea comes with a selection of: finger sandwiches; warm scones and Welsh cakes (served with homemade jam and clotted cream); freshly baked cakes; and tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

High tea, gentleman’s tea and alcohol options are also available at a higher price.
