So, what’s the verdict?

Our reporter Tyler Mears decided to take her puppy Atlas – a four-month-old golden retriever – to test out the tea before it launches next week

Coed-Y-Mwstwr really is a hidden gem – less than 10 minutes from the M4, it’s the kind of place desk-huggers (like me) spend their days dreaming about.

Atlas soon made himself at home on tha lawn, playing with the other dogs who were also having afternoon tea with their owners.

Atlas’ Doggy Afternoon Tea arrived on a three-tier stand, with doggy bowls placed on each tier.

There was also a bowl filled with ice and Pawsecco and doggy beer.

He absolutely lapped it up, especially the frozen yogurt pops – which were perfect, because it was so hot and sunny.

I started by feeding Atlas at the table, but I soon discovered it was probably just easier to chuck them all on the floor and let him dig in!

My afternoon tea was an array of sandwiches, cakes, desserts and scones. (I definitely had to eat these by the table and not from the floor!)

But it was lovely and I even treated myself to my very own glass of prosecco - although it wasn’t the doggy one this time!

We finished the day with a walk around the grounds, and Atlas even made a couple of new friends.

The whole experience was great – and was surprisingly less stressful than I imagined taking my boisterous retriever puppy to afternoon tea would be.

The hotel even has a number of dog-friendly rooms - so if you have one too many Pawseccos, they let you stay the night.
