BOUQUET OF THE WEEK Trustee is happy to muck in

-

A DEVOTED charity trustee who is not afraid to muck in and get her hands dirty to help out has been awarded an Echo Bouquet of the Week.

Emma Thomas has a full-time job managing front line customer service for housing association Linc Cymru but still finds time to support charity Bullies Out.

The 45-year-old, from Cardiff, is a trustee at the organisation which aims to change the lives of those affected by bullying.

She has been with the charity for the past 12 years and joined the board in February 2010 after four years as a volunteer. Emma works enthusiastically, mucking in whenever needed, and said: “My official title is trustee but I do whatever needs doing and don’t mind getting my hands dirty.”

Emma is also a keen singer and likes to sing with Cardiff-based Cor y Gleision in her spare time.

Bullies Out founder Linda James nominated Emma for her bouquet in recognition of her hard work supporting the charity.

Linda said: “Emma has a full-time job in addition to putting in copious amounts of hours for the charity after work and at weekends – helping with office admin, organising volunteering activities, and raising awareness.”

She added: “Emma is always fundraising – not a day goes by that she doesn’t promote the charity. She’s an absolute star.”

Emma has helped to organise the forthcoming Brave the Blaze Firewalk in November this year, which involves walking over hot coals in an attempt to take the power away from fear. The event has been organised in associa- tion with Time4Change.
