The Crown...

Netflix behemoth The Crown is due to shoot in the Rhondda Fach, Cynon Valley and at Big Pit in Blaenavon.

A spokesman for Rhondda Cynon Taf council said: “The council can confirm this filming will take place in Cwmaman during September, utilising the Glynhafod Junior School building which is being vacated due to the opening of the brand new £7.2m Cwmaman Primary School.

“External street filming will also take place in Ferndale as part of this production. The council has worked closely with the production company and is currently awaiting its final terms, which will include details of any traffic management required locally.”

With Netflix’s 125 million subscriber­s and stars like Olivia Colman – who is now in the role of Queen Elizabeth – the Welsh valleys will be seen by a worldwide audience.

The Voyage of Dr Dolittle...

Back in June film crews closed off Menai Bridge in Anglesey as they filmed The Voyage of Dr Dolittle with Avengers star, Robert Downey Jr.

The star of Sherlock Holmes, Chaplin and Tropic Thunder, will star as Dr John Doolittle in his new film, which will be released in April 2019. He will be feature alongside Michael Sheen and Tom Holland, Emma Thompson and Ralph Fiennes. The scenes at Menai Bridge reportedly included a steam train and a giraffe chase.

Phllip Pullman’s popular trilogy, His Dark Materials, will once again be tackled on screen – the first was 2007’s The Golden Compass –this time for TV as the BBC pair up with Bad Wolf Studio which
